Applying the design to products

So, you have loaded your design and tagged it.  It is now sitting in your media basket and available to be put on a product.

Since most of you are still using a basic shop, I will show you how to apply it to a single product.  With the basic shops you can only apply 1 design to a product.  Which means you can only have 1 Value T Shirt, 1 Mug, etc.  Each product could have a different design though.

To apply a design to a product, click on:

  • Your Shops
  • Sections/Products
  • Add a Product
  • Choose a product
    • click Make Selection
    • click on a Product
    • click Add Selections
  • Your product will now show in the box on the right
  • under that box click “Add these products
  • You will now have a blank shirt (or mug….) in your store, and it will be “pending”
  • Click “Edit” on the product
  • You will now be able to add most of the stuff you need from here.
  • Add a design - click Select Image
    • Navigate to the folder you have your design in
    • choose the design you want by clicking on it
  • If the image doesn’t look right, you can change the size
  • click Next
  • you can now add a back image. If you don’t want one, click Next (note images on the back cost an extra $3 for the purchaser)
  • Input your product name.  Don’t just leave it as White T-Shirt.  Type in what the shirt is about
    • I put:  From Pink Slip White T-Shirt
  • Add a description.  You get 200 characters here, so try and load the description with something that people will read quickly and see some keywords for your design and it will make them want to buy it.
    • I put:  Get your From Pink Slip shirt here, the only place on the web were you can get these shirts.  From Pink Slip teaches you how to make money on the internet.   (This only used 154 characters, so I could add more)
  • Add your markup.  They show you the base price, and what a customer’s price will be after the markup.
    • I put:  $5.00  This way, since I have a premium shop and I paid the full year’s worth all at once, my monthly fees are $5.  So if I sell 1 shirt a month I break even.  Plus it puts the price close to the $20 range, and since I apply the same price markup to all my products it puts them all into a nice reasonable range.
  • Click “Save and Finish
    • Your product will now be in your store ready for purchase.  That is all there is to it.  You now have a product available for sale.
    • My shop is at:  http://www.cafepress.com/frompinkslip if you want to see my From Pink Slip White T-Shirt product that I put up while I was typing the instructions.
      • You will see that I also have a section called Blogging Sayings.  You will also see that it has a description under it.  If you have a premium shop and create sections, you can put descriptions under them like that.  If you click on that section you will see another section called “That’s Blogalicious”.  Click on that and you will see the “that’s blogalicious” design on all the products.  This is the type of organization you can use with a premium shop.  You certainly don’t need to upgrade today, just giving you an idea on what you could do once you start building up your shop and adding a bunch of designs.

Do you have any questions?  Hitting any snags?
